BetterSnapTool App Reviews

Really useful (necessary) on a 4k monitor

I found myself always resizing windows when I thought to myself “Self, you are a problem solver by finding pre-made solutions.” I went to the App Store and looked up many tools. There are several good ones but bettersnaptool is really AWESOME. I had to play with the settings to get a hang of how it works. It also plays nice with others. I found that all my other tools and system functions continued to work as expected. The app also did a good job of prompting me to turn on the accessibility permissions. At first, I didn’t do this and made me sad. After a brief delay, I turned it on. Now it saves me seconds each time I open a window. With as many windows I have, it really adds up. I generally do not post but I felt compelled. I recommend just getting it and playing with it a bit. I’m a fan.

Uses Significant Battery

Overall, this tool functions well and provides quick adjustment of various windows. It is more flexible than Windows’ built in feature. However, maybe it’s due to recent OS upgrades, but I find that it uses significant battery on my 2015 Macbook Pro. The battery indicator menu nearly always has it listed as one of such power-hungry apps. If this were fixed, I could give it a higher rating, but it doesn’t look like the developer is keeping it up to date…

Useful and eliminates some frustration

I have a second monitor with a grid of apps and web sites that I constantly refer to. I also frequently take the laptop it’s attached to away to work elsewhere, and every time I come back OSX decides to just move stuff around in odd ways. This app is nice - A few quick drags of my windows in the general vicinity of where I want them, and BAM - they snap into perfect position and order. If you’re the type who has to resist straightening things on other people’s desks, this is the app for you!

Excellent!

I just found out that this exists! It is perfect! Plus it seems to be kept up to date, which is awesome! Thank you!

Best tool of its kind

This is a great tool at an affordable price. Ive tried other tools and switched to this one - it supports both mouse and keyboard triggers and has been rock solid for years. Well worth it.

Finally!!! Parallels can Snap!!!!!

Thank you!!!! I could not stand the fact I could not snap my Parallels session. Now I can!!!!

Love this app but

Latest version has a problem with Security and Privacy settings. Constantly asks for access to the computer even after I have given it.

Not much to say works great

Simple and easy to use with plenty of options. Just wish it had ‘Move to next monitor’ in both directions right now you can just keep moving something to the right and it will wrap around.

Quite possibly the best addition to my mac

Now I know this is a feature pretty much stolen from windows, but it was the best purchase I have made and a great addition to the productivity of my mac. Thank you!

Saves me a lot of time

I have a 27” iMac. There is a lot of screen real estate. This app makes short work of moving apps to just the right spot on the screen. I often have 3 or 4 apps open and it is a joy to just pull that app to a certain part of the screen and boom it resizes and lives there until I close it or move it somewhere else. Great! Great! Great! Productivity app.

This window snapping tool is Awesome!

Having come back to Mac from Windows one, and quite possibly the only, thing that I really missed was the windows snapping behavior. This app works just like the Windows window snapping behavior but better as it allows you to snap a window into a quandrant of your screen space. It is clean in that you set the program and forget it and it always works as anticipated. Every time my window snaps into the exact position I want I cannot help but smile.

Extremely Useful, Very Little RAM Usage

This is literally the first thing that I open every time I turn on my computer. It truly is an indespensible tool for increasing efficiency and practicality. Essentially, it replaces the window resizing function that one would normally find on Microsoft Windows software. This is a third-party producer that creates a program that allows the same functionality on Mac OS. In other words, it works the exact same way.

Great Price, Great Product

I was looking for a quick way for split screen other than Apple’s new split screen. The advantage is that I am opening several different files on the left of the screen (one at a time), but have the same screen on the right side. This has quick-keys and I can move the new files quickly to place. (I teach, and this is great for quick grading. It is also the best rated with the best price. While other apps may compete with the product, they can’t compete with a three dollar price.

Opacity slider?

works great, but the opacity slider doesn’t seem to work and I really hate having that big blue box taking up half my screen.

It REALY Just Works!

This application smoothly does the “fractions of the screen” window sizing and positioning (like the more publicized Magnet), but also lets you customize EVERYTHING, so that you can create window positioning that just suits how you work. In others words, if you’re into tweeking something until it does EXACTLY what you want, this is the app to get (or you can just use the defaults). I’ve always used Macs (going from mainframes to workstation Unix to Mac OS) and this app has been there, doing it’s thing, for as long as I can remember being on Mac OS. I must have selected it as one point, but it’s been so many releases ago that I can’t remember not having it around. AND, It’s ALWAYS JUST WORKED!

A Must Have

I have been looking for 3 years to find an application that actually works, and this is it! Defenitly the best I have tried. For the price it is a MUST HAVE! When I get a new Macbook this will be the FIRST app I will download.

Far superior to Splitscreen

Here’s an intuitive shortcut setup: Ctrl+S = max Ctrl + A = left half Ctrl + D = right half Ctrl + W = top half Ctrl + Q = top left corner (etc. for bottom/corners) Ctrl + k = center Ctrl + j = left 2/3 Ctrl + h = left 1/3 Ctrl+ l = right 2/3 Ctrl + ; = right 1/3 I recommend this app all the time - it’s absolutely essential for students. I love using half of my screen for a word document and the other half for source material, or half for a youtube video while I work on emails in the other. Compared to splitscreen (which I used for years): - love the flexibiliy of programmable shortcuts - more options for dividing windows - no crashing or mysterious failure to open on startup Thanks for a great program!

Fantastic concept and implementation, a few bugs, but zero customer support

Great flexibility and customization, well laid out and thoughtful, though currently I cannot adjust font settings for text within custom Snap Areas; if used with BetterTouchTool, Mr. Hegenberg’s other, complimentary app, there is a problem with ghosting, and it has been pain to sort out on my own since the dev never responded to my multiple emails. Absolutely a 5 star app when fixed and customer support is more responsive. Be prepared for an onslaught of *options*!

Remarkable Window Management App

For those looking at both, let me say I find this app far more useful than “Magnets” which largely just mimics screen orginazation tools already built in to macOS. Side by side and full screen views are easy to do by default. It’ll allow things like quarters, but that’s not a view I find terribly useful. BetterSnapTool on the other hand goes way above and beyond what the OS can do. From things like centering windows or having them take up ⅓, ½, or ⅔ of the screen on right or left (all with easily customizable keyboard shortcuts or window dragging) to compeltely customizable window arangments. Not simply snapping mind you, but exactly specified layouts. Simply the go-to app if you’re looking to manage your application, document, and finder windows beyond what macOS will do by default.
