BetterSnapTool App Reviews

Parla per se’ / It speaks for itself

:-) I’ve been using the Mac since late 1984 and still own one of the first 128K Macs, therefore, my review is supported by many years of intense work on the Mac. If youd like to tidy up a bit your screens specially those big ones that contain simultaneously several windows of various applications, then don’t waste more time and bet right away on this app. It’s cheap and compared to other similar applications is hundred times more efficient and configurable. I’ve tried tens of similar programs more costly but have not found anything that can compete with BetterSnapTool. Listen to an old wise person who knows what he’s talking about! :-)

Simply much-needed

A must-have app…I think it should be a feature in the MacOS.

I love this app

The fact that Apple has not bought this company and integrated it into the OS makes me worried for the future of Apple. This software is truly wonderful.

Must have

Great app but should be included in the base OSX.

It’s OK

It works great for a lot of windows, but I use the Atom text editor a lot and when I try resizing it, it won’t fill up the entire screen and there’s this really slow animation that occurs that changes the size of the window; it’s pretty annoying.

Great Space Management Tool

I got BetterSnapTool back when OSX didn’t have their so-called “intuitive” snap areas. While I applaud Apple for finally hopping on the bandwagon for implementing a function like that, it falls short in so many ways. Formating-wise with reorganizing text, toolbars, pictures, etc., Apple does a superior job, but this little tool has so much customability that it makes up for what it doesn’t do. Here’s some examples that BetterSnapTool does better: 1. Allows you to snap more than two areas, which leads to less full screen modes. 2. It allows you to create “Snap Areas”, creating certain sizes and positions for one or multiple apps. Just a simple drag to that area with the right app with adjust it. 3. You can create command shortcuts to avoid time-consuming dragging. 4. The team consistently and constantly updates the app and has done so since it released it for Snow Leopard and Lion. You don’t have to worry about it becoming obsolete thanks to Apple’s constant OS updates and upgrades. I could go one more, but there’s too much that I list. This is a top productivity app that is well worth its price.

Exactly what i was looking for!

Now El Capitan has a split screen feature but every program may not be compatible with it. Since i got this i can do my app coding program and run xcode at the same time with ease. It is definitely worth the money. Good work on this app!

Flawless application!

GET THIS APP OVER OTHER WINDOW SNAPPING APPS. My reason: It has more preferences and customizations. Also, if you purchase this app, you can get BetterTouchTool on the developers website for FREE. It is a paid app and he gives it for free if you own a copy of BetterSnapTool. BTT is a great application as well. Great job developer!

Pretty nice to use

I definitely enjoy this app. It brings one of the only Windows features that I miss to my Mac that I love! I just wish that there was a way to customize the height of the window a little bit more. I work with multiple desktops and the icons in the tray at the bottom can get in the way since the applications snap to the full height of the screen. Other than that, this is some good stuff!

A necessity for your tool kit!

It’s just the best tool you’ll find for this kind of simplicity. Should be the first app everyone gets and loads on a new Mac.

Great app!

While some of these features should be built in natively, they’re not. This tool is fantastic! The advanced snap areas are a great, great addition but host my only complaint - upon a reboot, advanced snap areas do not automatically work, you must edit snap areas and then cmd+w to activate. Highly recommend this app for the efficiency conscious folks.

Increases productivity

Love this app. Should be built in to OS. Makes setting up my desktop with different apps a breeze.

Still love it after 3 years of use.

So useful and really easy to use, I’ve never had any problems with it. I’ve been using it for 3 years and still loving it. For sure the most used app I have, this should be part of the OS itself. This app runs so smooth that it does feel like it is part of the OS. Thanks to the developer/s for creating this awesome app.

Exactly what I wanted and more!

This app has everything I was looking for and more! It is packed full of very useful extras. Buy this app! You won’t regret it.

I <3 this app

Big things come in small packages. This app is the s**t. For those of you who own this app and havent tried this feature already, I highly recommend you go to preferrences —> keyboard shortcuts and create your own shortcuts. Biggest advantage is if you have dual monitors, it’s hard to “snap” a window into place if it shares a border with a screen in an adjacent monitor as it will simply transpose to the other monitor. But by creating shortcuts to snap windows into place without dragging (i.e., snap to the left/right half) is to create your own hotkeys. A simple one I created was control+command+r equals snap to right half. Makes life a lot easier. Anyway, y’all probably know this already.

I love it

I use BetterSnapTool every day and love it. I strongly feel it boosts productivity and I cannot imagine functioning without it. The default settings are amazing and work well. There are also a plethora of other settings for more advanced users who wish to take full advantage of BetterSnapTool’s capabilities. BetterSnapTool is receiving constant updates and I highly recommend it!

A must-have app for me

This review is waaay ovedue, as I’ve been using BetterSnap quite happily for over a year now. More often than not, I have several windows open at once when working on my computer—for dragging and dropping or copying files between folders or hard drives, or comparing contents of different folders. I’m also an organization freak so the ability to have an orderly desktop is a must. I love the easy drag-and-snap feature that allows me to quickly choose the size and location of windows, and the ability to create custom snap areas has become an invaluable feature, as well. My productivity has increased while using BetterSnap so much so that it’s on the shortlist of apps that I immediately reinstall after wiping my drive or moving to a new computer. Can’t recommend it enough for those who need to view several windows at once, or simply like their desktop to look neat and tidy.

One of my favorite apps.

When I work on other peoples’ Macs who don’t have BetterSnapTool installed, I think, “How can people live like this?” It’s immensely useful if you have a workflow that requires having lots of windows open and can’t stand the mess and disorganization of dragging windows back and forth. The feature that I find most helpful is the ability to have preset window sizes resize with keystrokes. I use command+shift+option+ the four arrow keys to resize to left half, right half, bottom half, and full screen. I also use love that I have ability to set functionaltiy of the green, yellow, and red window buttons using secondary clicks. I find the snap areas feature less useful. And I wish that the app worked better with adobe products, which don’t seem to resize.

Bring speed and efficiency to window management

First of all, I don’t write reviews. I figure if i like a software, my payment was enough gratitude. But I made an exception for this. For anyone who, like me (i.e.: photographer’s digital set technician / part time linux enthusiast) who works with multiple windows at the same time, especially on multiple monitors / “desktops”, please look into this tool. It does everything perfectly out of the box. And its customization lets you tailor it even better to your needs. Very impressed with the company and software. Will definitely be purchasing other OSX management tools they offer. Thank you devs. You’ve improved my dig-tech workflow immensely.

Excellent except for one obnoxious thing

I love this app so much, but I have a discrete graphics card and this app forces it to always be enabled. This really kills my battery and I would appreciate an update to fix this.
